The Travel Ukulele

For a while I have liked the idea of a small travel sized practice ukulele. Something that can be practised at night without disturbing anyone. A modified version of  Daniel Hulbert’s (of Circuits and Strings) seemed like the ideal place to start. Made from New Guinea teak,  I scaled down Daniel’s plans to Soprano size (keeping width), shortened the tail a little and kept a ~2mm backing to the unit, machining out the tuning peg/sound hole area. All finished with a now extinct five cent coin from here in New Zealand. The teak was nice to work with! Finish is of a linseed oil/beeswax paste.
