An archive shot with a bit of a processing twist today. I was thinking about the growth in android and apple camera apps, as well as what may be a slowly growing trend (at least in the more compact/non dslr field) of built in apps on phones.At the very least, it is becoming more common for people to upload their photos to various mobile devices.
So for today I uploaded an old image from my Fujifilm J15 to my samsung galaxy sII. Editing wise, I used Afterfocus and applied a vignette and vintage filter.
Image wise, the photo was shot at Whites Beach, just to the side of Piha on Aucklands West coast. A beautiful yet wild beach well worth visiting.

An archive shot for today. Taken a number of years ago, on my first trip to the South Island of New Zealand, a view of The Remarkables.
Shot on my simple Fujifilm J15 point and shoot camera, I played around with the image a little in Gimp tonight. There was a fairly large contrast between the foreground and Alps in the distance. Whilst this assisted in showing the grandeur of the mountain range, I wanted to get some more detail, so selected the background and adjusted the levels a little. then added a touch more contrast, Sometimes great landscapes look better in B&W in my opinion (not all the time mind you), so I converted to Black and White also.
Looking at the image reminds me of when I first looked up in awe at the mountains. I had been to a number of large volcanic mountains over the years, but until then never in front of a giant range. It really is an amazing site to see and one you cant miss if you visit New Zealand’s beautiful South Island.

As mentioned yesterday, I finished and developed my roll of Kentmere 400asa film in the Ricoh TLS. Today’s shot is a close up of my bike I shot whilst waiting to go out on the Saturday.
Its sometimes hard to show as my film scanner is nothing flash, and I don’t have the right lens on any of my digitals to shoot film, but I was very impressed with the Kentmere 400. I have loaded another roll into my GR1 to shoot in the next week or so.
As we wind into another week I am slowly winding down, ready for a Christmas break for a few weeks. Christmas is a funny one – its traditionally a time to rest, reflect on the year and the year ahead. Its also busy (sometimes very busy) and at times stressful. I already have plans for a dozen extra projects, but think I will need to put things in perspective and acknowledge its just two weeks!
But until Friday afternoon, its business as usual!

I had some time early this afternoon to roam some of the close to cbd suburban and park areas. Mostly I was shooting with my 35mm Ricoh tls, but I also grabbed a few shots on the mobile phone.
Im sure I have said it before, but there is something quite cool with park areas in or to the side of a built up city area. In walking distance for many who work in town, they offer a natural retreat from hetic lifestyles.
Shot using the Pro HDR Camera app and further edited in afterfocus, todays shot was halfway up a set of stairs by the motorway looking back at the city.
I also managed to finish my film in the slr, so when I get a chance, in what looks to be a busy week, I will share something from that.
