Sequoioideae – Redwood

RedwoodSequoioideae, better know to many as Redwood, are some of the tallest trees in the world. Able to live well over a thousand years, the few in todays image are just wee babies – age wise (although already very tall),Brought to New Zealand with settlers, much of the country once had Redwood. Now days its not so common, likely used for various parts of the manufacture of houses and other wood products over time.

Shot on the Sony Nex with 16-50mm pancake zoom.

Warkworth Prison

Warkworth PrisonWhilst I did manage to get some picture taking in today, it was of someone at work for an article, so I wont feature it here. So- another archive image. A scene from the old Warkworth Prison… well holding rooms from the old village police officer days. Moved and displayed at the Warkworth Museum, it paints a fairly basic, yet not surprising look at the local shack you may have once found yourself locked up in back in the day if you committed a nuisance. Constructed almost entirely of wood (pretty heavy wood), it did have a small iron bar window on the front door.

Shot on the Ricoh, I added heavy vignette in CS5 and desaturated the image a little.

Bike Vignette Diana Style

image

My main pc and editing software compter is connected up to our tv, and with a guest staying with us this week I have decided to concentrate on mobile phone photography – leaving the tv free for others!

I also recently finished a quick strip down, repaint and parts swap on my bike (just in time for my car to blow its radiator side tank…). Taking it for a bit of a test ride I headed down to Bayswater, cycling around the marina, and took todays shot.

Although unedited, I used the vignette app set to diana style.

I think what I will do some time this week is try out a few android photo editing apps and report how they go. For those who follow me, you will know I’m a dedicated Gimp user for post processing. Since its not on android at this stage I will have to see what works on a mobile level for me!
