Death of the Ants

I’m not much a fan of killing anything (possibly fleas excluded). At work, ants had decided to co-exist with us in the bathroom until this Friday when I walked in to see we had given them a gift they could not refuse.
Briefly taking a moment out of my day I glanced at them, with a compassionate look. They didn’t know they were drinking poison. They didn’t know their amazing and intricate city was about to be destroyed by sickness and death. What had they done to us? Just run around and gone about their days.
If you think about that for a moment, consider how small we are in the universe. Perhaps one day someone will give us splendid treats because we run around about our days (sadly history shows we have done that to our own before)
Now, if you have read to here, snap back out of the thought. It’s not one to linger on for long!

Frankenstein’s Uke mark1.5

I featured this creation a while back and have since made one big adjustment – a new home built neck. The old one certainly had a look about it, but was too wide at the top, making it hard to play. This new neck (along with quality strings) has made a world of difference. Crafted out of seconds pine planks, it’s kept the build cost low. Next…practice!

Railside 790

Anyone who follows me daily may have noticed I missed yesterday. After 790 consecutive daily posts, I missed a day! – thats about 2 years and 2 months.

When I first started posting, I didn’t even commit to a project 365, of which I had done in the post. I recall reaching a year and saying, ok, I’ve done a year. I might drop down to weekends, or a few times a week. Another year rolled by. thick and thin, sick and well, I arranged for my daily post.

Then yesterday, I was sick. And for once, I forgot to post.

In reality its not really any big deal. It does however mark the end of a mini blog era. Perhaps it gives me the opportunity to again review frequency, or at the least allow the opportunity to not post when I am sick.

Anyway, these photos were shot yesterday as a migraine began setting in.
