About a month back we reached peek Cicada season in New Zealand. Walk anywhere near the bush and you might struggle to hear yourself think. An often mistaken thought is that cicada’s are related to (or sometimes called) locusts. They are not.

A party for a one year old today. Waking from slumber to a room full of faces must be a little intimidating for a just turned one year old.
Toys and more toys everywhere leave him with plenty to play with, and parents wondering where they will put it all.
Along comes the birthday cake. Time to put on his party face!
A nice afternoon had by all. Thanks for having us over Bryn!
Moving a little South of yesterdays image, we are now in part of the active farm/livestock section of Cornwall Park/One Tree Hill. Way back in 1844 Thomas Henry of Ireland purchased the area to farm. It changed hands and management many times since then, even being used for growing potatoes during WW2 under a government emergency regulation.
Todays image ‘Sloping Green’ is one of such areas of active livestock today. At the time of visiting, home to a number of sheep having their early morning snack.
